If you’re a landlord or renter in Worcestershire, Warwickshire, or the West Midlands looking to install an EV charger, there’s some genuinely good news: and a deadline you need to know about. The OZEV EV Chargepoint Grant offers up to £350 towards your installation costs, but it’s only available until March 31st, 2026.
That might sound like ages away, but trust us: between scheduling surveys, getting permissions sorted, and coordinating installation dates, these things have a habit of creeping up on you. Let’s break down who qualifies, what the grant covers, and how we can help you claim it before time runs out.
What Is the OZEV Grant?
The Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) runs an ev charger installation grant scheme designed to make home EV charger installation more affordable for people who don’t have straightforward access to off-street parking: or for landlords providing charging facilities for tenants or staff.
There are actually two versions of the grant, depending on whether you’re a renter/flat owner or a landlord. Both offer up to £350 or 75% of installation costs (whichever is lower), and both require you to use an OZEV-approved installer like EV Power Point Ltd.

The Grant for Renters and Flat Owners
If you rent your home or own a flat, you can apply for the EV Chargepoint Grant for Renters or Flat Owners. This covers:
- Up to £350 or 75% of installation costs (whichever is lower)
- One charging socket per eligible household
- Installation at the property where you live
Who’s Eligible?
You’ll need to tick a few boxes to qualify:
- You must live in the property where the charger’s being installed (this isn’t for landlords living elsewhere)
- You need an eligible electric vehicle: either owned, leased, assigned as a company car, or on order (it must be on OZEV’s approved vehicle list)
- The installation must be carried out by an OZEV-approved installer (that’s us)
What About On-Street Parking?
Here’s where it gets interesting. If you’ve got on-street parking rather than a driveway, there’s a separate grant that offers £350 for a cross-pavement charging solution. You’ll need:
- Confirmation from your local council that you’ve got adequate on-street parking
- Permission from the council to install the charger
- A cross-pavement charging solution installed before the home charger goes in
It’s a bit more admin-heavy, but it’s doable: and we’ve helped plenty of customers navigate this process across the West Midlands.
The Grant for Landlords
Landlords have their own version of the grant, which is actually pretty generous if you’re looking to future-proof your rental properties or provide charging for staff.
You can claim 75% off installation costs, up to £350 per socket, with some decent limits:
- Up to 200 grants per year for residential properties
- Up to 100 grants per year for commercial properties (e.g., staff car parks)
- One application per building

Who Qualifies as a Landlord?
To be eligible, you’ll need to meet these criteria:
- Be registered with Companies House or VAT registered with HMRC
- Not live in the property where the charger’s being installed
- Own one of the following property types: single flats, houses, apartment blocks, mixed-use buildings, or commercial premises with staff parking
What’s Not Covered?
You can’t claim the grant if:
- The chargers are being installed because of planning conditions or mandatory building regulations
- You’re already legally required to install them as part of a new build or major renovation
How EV Power Point Ltd Can Help
Here’s the thing about OZEV grants: they’re not complicated, but they do require you to work with an approved installer. That’s where we come in.
We’re fully OZEV-approved and have been helping landlords and renters across Worcestershire, Warwickshire, and the West Midlands claim this grant for years. More importantly, we handle the entire application process for you. You don’t need to fill out forms, chase OZEV, or worry about whether you’ve ticked the right boxes.
Our Process
- Free survey: We’ll visit your property, assess what’s needed, and confirm eligibility
- Grant application: We submit the application to OZEV on your behalf
- Installation: Once approved, we’ve got 90 days to complete the work (we’re usually much quicker)
- Grant deduction: The £350 is paid directly to us by OZEV and deducted from your invoice: you never need to claim it back

Why Choose EV Power Point Ltd?
We’re a local, family-run business based in the West Midlands. That means:
- In-house team: Every installation is carried out by our own qualified engineers: no subcontractors, no strangers turning up
- Manufacturer-approved: We’re certified to install all the major brands, from Ohme to EO to Ratio
- Local knowledge: We know the area, the common property types, and the quirks of local councils when it comes to permissions
- No hard sell: We’ll give you honest advice about what you need, not what makes us the most money
What Chargers Are Covered?
The grant applies to any OZEV-approved charger model. We install a range of smart chargers that qualify, including:
- Ohme Home Pro: Smart charging with a screen, perfect for scheduling off-peak top-ups
- EO Mini Pro: Compact, app-enabled, and great for smaller driveways or garages
- Ratio EV Chargers: Stylish and reliable, with tethered or untethered options
- Simpson & Partners: Premium design with wooden accents: ideal if aesthetics matter
All of these are fully compatible with the grant, and we’ll help you choose the right one for your property and vehicle.
Important Deadlines and Rules
The OZEV grant is available until March 31st, 2026. That gives you just over a year to get your application in, but here’s the catch: once your application is approved, the installation must be completed within 90 days.
That timeline can get tight if you’re dealing with permission issues, scheduling delays, or tricky property layouts. Our advice? Start the process sooner rather than later. Even if you’re not planning to buy an EV until next year, getting the charger installed now (while the grant’s still available) future-proofs your property and saves you £350.
What Happens After Installation?
Once the charger’s in, you’re all set. The grant is paid directly to us by OZEV, and it’s deducted from your final invoice: you don’t need to do anything. All installations are logged with OZEV, and they may carry out random audits to ensure everything’s been done properly (which is why working with an approved installer matters).
